Comparison of CKD-EPI, C-G and MDRD equations for estimating glomerular filtration rate in chronic kidney disease population in South-Western Nigeria

چکیده
Background: Ethnic variabilities make reliability of formula equations for assessing glomerular filtration rate (GFR) doubtful in many populations. We compared Cockroft-Gault (CG), modification diet renal disease (MDRD), and chronic kidney diseases epidemiology collaboration (CKD-EPI) adult Nigerian CKD subjects.
Methodology: measured 24-hour-urinary creatinine clearance 311 patients with the three estimated equations. Bland-Altman plots were used to assess agreement between (mGFR). Receiver-operating curve (ROC) analysis was diagnostic power Equation accuracy within 30% mGFR ≥90% considered acceptable use.
 Results: Mean age 41.9±12.7 years 182(58.5%) females. The mean GFR using CKD-EPI, 2 MDRD CG 69.5±33.9, 65.9±33.0 66.2±30.9 mls/min/1.73m respectively (mGFR 68.3±31.1mls/min /1.73m ). 3 showed positive correlation (r=0.95) but CKD-EPI had least bias.
Conclusion: All can be equation is preferable patients, especially GFR> 60mls/min.

Comparison of the MDRD and the CKD-EPI equations to estimate the glomerular filtration rate in the general population.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CDK-EPI) equation has been proposed as a replacement for the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) equation to estimate the glomerular filtration rate, but this equation has not yet been evaluated in the general population. PATIENTS AND METHODS Cross-sectional analysis of a random sample of 858 participants...
متن کاملEvaluation of Glomerular Filtration Rate Estimating Formulas in Diabetic Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease
Objective: Measurement of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the best determinant in assessment of kidney function for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. As extremely accurate methods of GFR measurement (i.e. Inulin clearance) are expensive and Time-consuming and due to limitations of the 24 hour urine collection method, some formula have been developed for the GFR measurement. Here we have ...
متن کاملRelative performance of the MDRD and CKD-EPI equations for estimating glomerular filtration rate among patients with varied clinical presentations.
BACKGROUND The Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) equation was developed using both CKD and non-CKD patients to potentially replace the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) equation that was derived with only CKD patients. The objective of our study was to compare the accuracy of the MDRD and CKD-EPI equations for estimating GFR in a large group of patients havi...
متن کاملComparison of CKD-EPI Cystatin C and Creatinine Glomerular Filtration Rate Estimation Equations in Asian Indians
Background. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is identified in the general population using estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFR) calculated from a serum creatinine-based equation, the chronic kidney disease-epidemiology collaboration (CKD-EPI) equation. Using serum cystatin C in combination may improve eGFR accuracy. We evaluated the new CKD-EPI equations incorporating cystatin C in a popula...
متن کاملComparing Results of Five Glomerular Filtration Rate-Estimating Equations in the Korean General Population: MDRD Study, Revised Lund-Malmö, and Three CKD-EPI Equations
BACKGROUND Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is a widely used index of kidney function. Recently, new formulas such as the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) equations or the Lund-Malmö equation were introduced for assessing eGFR. We compared them with the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) Study equation in the Korean adult population. METHODS The...
